The crisp, cool air of winter does not deter South Africans from getting out and about - and adding one more fantastic offering to a winter itinerary is the return of Franschhoek’s popular Mystery Weekends.

Said to be a weekend of surprise, relaxation and indulgence, the Franschhoek Mystery Weekends are perfect for couples in need of a quality winter escape to enjoy Franschhoek’s finest wines, world-class cuisine and bespoke experiences.

“This year there are four fabulous packages on offer for the weekend,” says Franschhoek Wine Valley, explaining that in the past, the entire experience would have been preselected.

“This year you will have the opportunity to randomly select your own Saturday dinner, Sunday lunch and two optional experiences.”

The Franschhoek Mystery Weekend includes two nights’ accommodation, breakfast daily, a surprise event on the Friday night, dinner on the Saturday night, a light lunch on the Sunday, and a selection of bespoke Franschhoek experiences which will only be revealed when you check in.

Four packages to choose from

Packages have been tiered to suit varying tastes of travellers. The most expensive of the four packages is the ‘Ultimate’ Experience in the Franschhoek Valley priced at R8 200 per couple. There’s also the ‘Deluxe’ Franschhoek Valley Experience at R6 150 per couple.

The remaining two packages involve visits to establishments situated just outside the Valley “but are guaranteed to be über luxurious”, according to Franschhoek Wine Valley.

These packages are the ‘Superior’ Franschhoek Experience at R5 650 per couple and the ‘Premium’ Franschhoek Experience at R5 300 per couple.

Rates are for two people sharing per weekend and excludes transport and flights. No children or infants are allowed on Franschhoek Mystery Weekends.
