With 20% - 40% of India's population being vegetarian, you're bound to find a vegetarian foodie joint that offers versatile dishes rich with flavour and free of meat.

Where to veg out in India: 

  • Cafe Madras, Mumbai - Start off your journey with a taste of south Indian cuisine before furthering on your foodie road trip.

  • Palitana - This is the first totally vegetarian city in the world where the buying and selling of meat and fish have been outlawed.

  • Naivedyam Restaurant, Delhi - Here you'll find simple and authentic south Indian food - their dosas are a favourite but nothing beats their popular chutneys.

  • Saravana Bhavan, Delhi - This stop is a must-try for all veggies visiting Delhi. They serve up dosas, uttapam, appam and filtered coffee.

  • Ramana's Garden, Rishikesh - This stop gives back and not just in tasty food. The company takes care of homeless children while serving amazing lunches - the raw cake is a popular order. 

  • Kashyap Kachori Bhandar, Haridwar - Kashyap promises some delectable kachori.
