Cape Town - With so much bad news weighing us down, South Africa and the world as a whole can sure do with a bit of light.
And who better to learn the art of lightness from than two warriors of joy, who have both earned their stripes on the battlefield of life: our very own beloved archbishop emeritius Desmond Tutu and his good friend the Dalai Lama?
Late last weekend the Arch, as he is affectionately known, jetted off to Dharamsala in India to hang out with the Dalai Lama for an early celebration of his 80th birthday in July this year, but also to collaborate on a new book about... joy!
The two wise (and totally adorable) old men share a special friendship that has stood the test of time and visa issues. The Dalai Lama has had to cancel various trips to South Africa - most notably for Tutu's 80th birthday in 2011 and the Nobel Peace Summit last year - due to 'complications' with his visa.
During Tutu's seven day stay in the north Indian city, the two will be putting their heads and hearts together to produce 'The Book of Joy.'
But they won't be writing it alone!
People from all corners of the globe have been asked to send their questions about experiencing joy in their lives to the two sages via Facebook. They will then work together to answer them. How amazing!
Both Tutu and the Dalai Lama have been sharing photographs of the joyful visit on their official Facebook pages. Take a look:
