Cape Town - Airlink announced on Wednesday that they will be launching direct flights between Johannesburg and Port Elizabeth from 6 May 2018. The new route will be flown by their newly acquired 74 seat Embraer E170
From OR Tambo International Airport the route will run from Monday to Friday and Sundays, departing at 18:10 and arriving in Port Elizabeth at 19:40. Flights departing from Port Elizabeth will be daily, departing at 06:45 and arriving in Johannesburg at 08:15, except for Saturdays when the flight departs at 08:00 and arrives at 09:30.

The route is aimed at Eastern Cape business travellers for same-day return for meetings, as well as making it easier for onward connectivity for international flights from OR Tambo.
The new Embraer E170 has six business and 68 economy class seats, with a layout of two plus two abreast seating with large eye-level windows and large overhead bin space.
Airlink suspended its Pretoria to Cape Town route last month, as the route hasn't developed as expected over the last three years, and has cancelled its flight route from Cape Town to St Helena, but still is the only commercial airline to fly to the island from Johannesburg.
