1. Flower viewing at Van Stadens Flower Reserve
Van Stadens Flower Reserve is one of the oldest in the country and it has so many uses, you get to decide how you want to spend your day. The reserve is a great picnic spot, it offers hiking trails, it has various mountain bike routes and you can even swim in the river.

2. South End Museum
Learn about the once cosmopolitan community of South End, the suburb used to be a fusion of culture and diversity with people from all walks of life living harmoniously. Things changed during apartheid but the museum serves as a reminder of what used to be a thriving community. Historical photographs are placed all around to give visitors a glimpse into the life that was led by the residents of South End.

3. Do a fun run at Hobie Beach Park Run
Summer is here and there is still time to do a few exercises to get you ready for the beach. Start with this fun run. Every Saturday volunteers get ready for a 5km race at the beach. This is an enjoyable activity for the whole family, it is different from how everyone spends their Saturday but nothing will bring you all together like a little healthy competition.

4. Route 67 Art and Heritage Walk
This art project was launched in celebration of Nelson Mandela's contribution to the struggle and the years he gave up in service to the country. To keep up with the theme there are 67 art pieces from 67 different local Eastern Cape artists in a total of 67 giant steps. Each art piece represents a different era in the icon's life, it will be as if you are literally walking in his footsteps.

5. The Wreck of the Sacramento
The Sacramento trail is popular with tourists. It is an 8km walk that runs through Schoenmakers to Sardinia Bay and eventually leading up to the cannon. The mint-coloured cannon points in the direction of where the wreck took place, the walk towards the national monument has beautiful landscapes provided by Port Elizabeth's beautiful beaches. After walking the trail, jump into the ocean to cool off and turn the monument trip into a beach day.
