UPDATE: Woman celebrates 92nd birthday by sliding down 1.1km Mossel Bay zipline

Talk about an epic celebration! On Monday, 17 February 2020, Mossel Bay resident, Gaynor Canning celebrated her 92nd birthday by zipping down the world's longest zipline over the ocean in Mossel Bay. The start is at the Point, near the landmark St Blaize Lighthouse and St Blaize Cave. 

Gifted to her for her birthday, the Mossel Bay Advertiser reports that Zipline Company let her ride for free. This made her the oldest person to try this daredevil ride across the bay. 

According to Mossel Bay Advertiser she said that she "wasn't nervous at all!"

The Garden Route is already adventure holiday central - from the Bloukrans bungy to the Otter Trail - and Mossel Bay has added a new adrenaline-infused attraction. 

The much-anticipated ocean zipline by SA Forest Adventures finally opened to the public on Saturday, the seaspray inaugurating the insane 1.1km ride expected to be the world's longest zipline over the ocean.

It was initially announced in 2017 with an opening date in December 2019 that was delayed by bad weather. 

The thrilling ride costs R450 per person and you can book online or walk-in - however at the moment demand is incredibly high since the opening - the company commented on their Facebook page that they "simply [are] having such a huge amount of bookings coming in that our days are filling up".
