You don't generally associate swimming with a cosmopolitan city such as the City of Gold.

However, Joburgers will tell you than it gets hot, hot, hot during summer. It's already summer, in fact, as the city and region tend to skip right past spring almost every year.

With no ocean, pools are the only option. And there are so many to choose from in the economic hub - from indoor and heated to spa and rooftop pools.

Here are some of the best pools and places to swim in the city of Joburg:

Linden Pool

In the quirky-cool 'hood of Linden you'll find this indoor pool, ideal for family fun. It's heated and super cheap.

With a great pool to cool down in and hang around, this is the perfect place to cool down and appreciate the views after a long day's hustle. With trendy décor, comfy wicker chairs and large fire pits, it’s especially great for sunset cocktails with those incredible panoramic views of the Highveld beyond the city skyline.

Sydenham Swimming Pool

A really lovely outdoor public pool with diving boards and lifeguards. It is also family-friendly with a separate children's splash pool area.
