Cape Town - The Mother City burger joint establishment, The Royal Eatery has been named by The Telegraph as one of the best places on the planet to tuck into a gourmet burger.

The gallery was composed by the British newspaper in honour of National Burger Day in the UK and describes The Royal Eatery as “a true spot of burger heaven”.

"Serving almost exclusively burgers - over 50 of them," they say, "This Cape Town eatery is a true spot of burger heaven. They describe their patties as “burgers that make your soul tingle and your dreams come true”.

The Telegraph recommends Royale’s Santori burger, a pork patty topped with teriyaki sauce, ginger and chilli.

Our favourite, however, is the Merino.

This bad-ass burger is a whopping 160g homemade lamb patty blended with fresh herbs and topped with a turkish roasted red pepper pesto, coriander and caramelised onions. Y-U-M!

We need to mention their incredible shakes, too... These glorious, double-thick works of wonder will have you coming back for more every time (if you're not already persuaded by the world-class burgers, of course...)

The Telegraph did good in recognising this quaint burger spot in the Mother City. There are, however, more than one mind-blowing burger joint in this country...

Here are Traveller24'sfavourite Burger Joints in all the major SA cities:

Hudson's - Cape Town

This Cape Town establishment has just branched out to the Winelands and is now operating in Stellenbosch. The best part of going to Hudsons is that you don't have to decide on just one burger... opt for their slider selections and you'll have best of all! They also do awesome weekday drinks specials between 16:00 and 18:00.
