What truly made the Andalusian road trip so special for World Nomads' Aube Rey Lescure was its elements. The sun, the sea, the land and the people. To better articulate the experience that these elements inspired, Lescure wrote a series of poetic vignettes.

From the tastes and sensations of the region the landscapes, the below vignettes truly capture the spirit of Andalucia.

It's hot in Andalucia

"Sip sherry thick as honey, hear the crunch of a green olive, taste the garlic and the almonds in a cold Ajo Blanco soup,
"Rest a moment under the shade of an orange tree, I had never tasted olive oils straight from the land by which the trees grow, dipped my tongue into liquid gold and let it trickle down my throat,
"It is hot in Andulacia, sometimes it is unbearably hot, the burning rays beat down relentlessly and the endless fields of red earth are wavy from the rising heat, we are after all mere miles away from Africa."

An agrarian land

"Andalucia is to its core an agrarian land, its grass plains and rolling hills are harvested for olive oil, wine, sherry, almonds, oranges, rice and any vegetation that can survive the often arid and sometimes subtropical climate,
"In many small villages generations of farmers are still labouring the earth with patience and care adopting to modern techniques but maintaining respect for the integrity of their fields and growth."

First sight of the sea

"First sight of the sea, haze of dark gloom, from high above the waves that wrinkled its surface look immobile like delicate lacerations on an immense piece of paper,
"To see how the blue hugs the edges of human life and then to taste the salt in the flesh of the fish and the charred crust of silver skin, there is nothing like being by the sea."

El Duende

"The ultimate spirit of Andalucia called El Duende, the experience of extreme emotion in response to music, art, flamenco,
"It is a perfect description of the passion that allows Andalusians to embrace without reservations, impossible hardships and richness of their history and their traditions,
"And to live all moments displaying such warmth and open heart that it makes us wish that deep inside that we could all be a little Andalusian"
