Dublin Airport has been busy with an 18-month runway upgrade, which had to be done at night while the airport remains operational during the day.

Every night since November last year, 200 people have been busy with resurfacing the airport's main runway, which hasn't had a revamp since it opened in 1989. It handles 95% of all flights at the busy airport, thus the nighttime construction work was necessary.

This involves resurfacing of the tarmac and installation of new ground lighting systems, with 200km of new electrical cable, 1,700 new LED lights and 100,000 tonnes of new asphalt.
