The incredible creatures that call the Two Oceans Aquarium home will be making their television screen debut on The Wild Ones, M-Net's latest wildlife series.

For the next five consecutive Sundays (starting on 3 June) the aquarium will be showcased on M-Net's brand new wildlife series titled The Wild Ones. The show is being produced by Homebrew Films in partnership with WWF South Africa and BirdLife South Africa.

The show will air on Sundays at 16:00 and is promised to deliver a beautifully filmed deeper dive into the Aquarium's facilities, functionality as well as the incredible sea life residents.

These five episodes are appropriately titled: Aquarium: An Aquatic Life and are said to showcase never-before-seen footage and real-life stories that would otherwise be drowned out and not shared beyond the tanked Aquarium walls.

Helen Lockhart, Communications and Sustainability Manager for the Two Oceans Aquarium, said in a statement that this has always been the Aquarium's dream to share these stories with the people of South Africa.

"We want to give people a glimpse into what it takes to run this Aquarium, what it takes to keep our standards as high as possible at all times, and what it takes to deliver a tourist attraction of international standards, not only to Cape Town, but also to the rest of the country," added Lockhart.

The filming process of the show took place over four months. Each episode of the Aquarium's five-episode-long segment is said to deal with a variety of aspects: from the Aquarium's operations, behind the sea-nes activities, the animals (star-fish-s of the show) as well as to the people who play a pivotal role in maintaining the Aquarium's demanding standards.

Lockhart elaborated on this and said that the crew had spent months shadowing the Aquarium staff to get acquainted and caught up in the stories being showcased. She added that the crew had essentially become part of the Aquarium family during their process of immersion and filming.

"We are incredibly excited about the series and the potential it has of showing viewers the inner workings and the heart of the Aquarium," Lockhart concluded.
