Cape Town -  Durban and the surrounding KZN coastal areas are renown SA surfing hotspots, playing host to one of the world's longest running surfing contests, The Ballito Pro as a prime example.

But over the last couple of days, a few brave surfers have taken on some 4m-high waves - giving a good indication of just how intense the waves can get out in Durban.

Craig Dove, a local resident photographer has been capturing some great shots of surfers enjoying the waves, with fairly strong winds whipping the surf - seeing a few even braver spectators coming out to watch the surfers and bodyboarders do their thing.

Referring to today's waves, Craig captioned his latest images, "Mondays like this are always welcomed. Have a great week."
