When December rolls round - South Africans have the extraordinary sun beating down in bucket loads. For some the idea of a holiday including skiing and snowboarding opportunities seems a bit far-fetched. Sure we have the likes of Tiffindell or AfriSki - but what about the real-deal European holiday experience?
Does the flaky rand exchange make it seem all downhill for any Alpine escape? Here are four tips that might just turn your snowy holiday dreams into a holiday.
Stay at a resort. There is something to be said for putting the bits and bobs of your holiday itinerary together. But when it comes to a snowy break, then a holiday package deal can help your savings stretch a little bit further. Many ski resorts offer all-inclusive deals. That means once you've paid for your holiday, you won't need your wallet again for food or drinks.
Gear and ski passes included in your package. Booking a package deal that includes your ski-gear rental and passes is also another way to save.
Exchange rate bargains. The Club Med deals below offer a discount and reduced rate of exchange. You can also secure a fixed rate when deposit is paid.
Consider going off-peak. While you’re enjoying the sun of your off-peak ski break - you can also expect fewer people on the slopes. This means you get extra special care from your ski instructor. You’ll feel like a real VIP.
