But just how did this collaboration come about?
Jimmy Nevis said “I am so excited to be a part of the CapeNature family. I did not realise my passion for conservation until a few years back. It was through hiking that I originally discovered my love for nature. I think that conservation is something we should all strive to do naturally.”
Prior to the release of his highly anticipated third studio album, Chimera. The Cape Town born artist spent quite a lot of time in nature drawing significant inspiration from it, as part of his creative process.
“Shooting my visual album at the Kogelberg Nature Reserve was truly inspiring. I was fortunate enough to enjoy a CapeNature reserve stay whilst being creative, which allowed me to recreate those memories. The images were also quite spiritual for me as they symbolised independence and one’s true self,” shares Nevis.
Speaking on the initiative, Sheraaz Ismail, CapeNature’s Director for Marketing and Eco-Tourism said that the partnership is a step into a new direction; reaching people of all ages through their love for music to hone in the message of biodiversity conservation and sustainable tourism.
“CapeNature is constantly looking at innovative ways of creating access for all people of the Western Cape to explore and enjoy our precious natural spaces. The camp out with Jimmy Nevis and CapeNature is exactly this, creating an intimate music experience in the wild whilst making personal connections,” added Ismail.
