Ready to toast in lazy days spent in the vineyards of South Africa?

Wine tastings and summer are favourite bedfellows and what better way to try out all the best of the best with sweet summer wine festival?

See what's plotting in Western Cape's wine regions, with a couple of wine festivals in other parts of the country.

Western Cape

Tuning the Vine (Second Wednesday every month)

Starting at 17:30 to 20:30, you can explore the inner city wine route of Cape Town with a wide variety of SA wines and learn more from winemakers.

Stellenbosch Street Soiree (Every month on a Wednesday)

Toast with the locals and head to Drostdy Street for some festive feasting and laidback mingling with fellow food and wine lovers this summer.

Wine on the River, 26 - 28 October 

Robertson is ready to celebrate the warm weather in style with their fine country wine along the Breede River, or even on top of it.

The Bubbly Festival, 27 October

Durbanville's Meerendal Wine Estate is hosting a celebration of everything with bubbles, and your entry ticket gets you 5 free tastings and one branded Champagne flute. There's also a best-dressed competition!

Swartland Heritage Festival, 2 - 3 November

This festival is for those who want to learn more about how to make good wine while also tasting the best of Swartland's independent wine producers. Set in Paternoster, attendees will also be regaled with foodie experiences from local chefs.

Elim Wine Festival, 10 November

Try out little-known wine from the most southerly, and youngest, wine region in SA, at Black Oystercatcher in Cape Agulhas. Craft beer and ciders will also be featured for those who prefer their hops to their grapes.

BLACC Fest X Langa, 10 - 11 November

Hosted by the Black Cellar Club (BLACC), this inaugural wine and spirits showcase will be taking place at the heart of Langa at the Guga S'Thebe Arts and Culture Centre.

Franschhoek Cap Classqiue & Champagne Festival, 1 - 2 December 

Experience the magic of bubbles in one of the premier wine valleys of the Western Cape at the iconic Huguenot Monument. Not only will there be local bubblies, but also French imported champagne!


Hemel-en-Aarde Pinot Noir Celebration, 25 - 26 January (2019 dates not confirmed)

Near the seaside town of Hermanus, the Hemel-en-Aarde wine region celebrates its famous pinot noir, grown in its valleys, perfectly matched with gourmet grub.

Franschhoek Summer Wines, 2 February (2019 Dates not confirmed yet)

Taste the best of seasonal summer wines of the Franschhoek valley at Leopard's Leap, which will include white, rosé, MCC and light red wines while you strut your stuff in an elegant white outfit.


Stellenbosch Wine Festival, 22 - 24 February (2019 Dates not confirmed yet)

This is the country's oldest wine festival, check out one of the most popular SA attractions as you drink your way through the region's finest wines.

Constantia Fresh Festival, 23 February (2019 Dates not confirmed yet)

The focus of this Cape Town wine festival is the fresh food that accompanies the wine selection, set on the beauty of the Buitenverwachting farm.

Robertson Wine Valley's Hands-On Harvest, 1 - 3 March

Say goodbye to the last bit of summer with Robertson's Hands-On Harvest that lets families take part in the winemaking process by picking grapes, stomping, vineyard safaris and blending your wines.



WineX, 24 - 26 October

Living in Gauteng doesn't mean you have to miss out on some summer wine love. About 150 exhibitors will showcase everything wine-related including tasting the best of the best.

Peech Wine Festival, 16 March (2019 Dates not confirmed yet)

Join the Peech Boutique Hotel for their annual Wine Festival in Melrose. It's a festive carnival afternoon filled with wine tasting from wines all the way from Western Cape.

Mpumalanga Wine Show, 7 - 8 March (2019 Dates not confirmed yet)

Nelspruit plays host to the annual Mpumalanga Wine Show at the Emnotweni Arena where Lowveld wine lovers can get a chance to try out the best wines in the country.

Eastern Cape Wine Show, 30 November - 1 December

If you're in Port Elizabeth, head on over to the Boardwalk Convention Centre for a night of tasting over 250 wines of South Africa.
