The Cape's Overberg lends itself nicely to a winter road trip - so why not blend in some culture by planning a weekend escape around the Hermanus FynArts Festival.
The diverse arts and culture event is packed with visual arts, literature, music and award-winning food and wine.
Festival-goers can expect musical entertainment, exhibitions and talks around photography and ceramics as well as workshops of those aspiring artists who want to get their hands dirty. The event is also an ideal family escape as there will be a host of kids entertainment for the little ones too.
This year's event was also meant to honour the late Hugh Masekela. As a result the organisers have expressed their sympathy saying, "We were deeply saddened by the passing away of Hugh Masekela who had earlier accepted to be the recipient of the 2018 FynArts Legacy Award. We will present the Award posthumously and pay tribute to Bra Hugh on Saturday 9 June."

Hermanus is also one of South Africa's most popular whale watching destination. Each year it welcomes local and international visitors to its shores in winter to get a glimpse of the migrating creatures while taking in the natural beauty of the coastal town.
Make sure you don't miss this one either.
The Hermanus Whale Festival started 26 years ago and allows visitors to celebrate the migration of Southern Right Whales and other marine wildlife. It's a celebration of ocean-themed activities and exhibitions, emphasising education and environmentally responsible adventures and activities. This year's festival takes place from 28 to 30 September 2018.
