You may think this would be an unsafe destination, the country is rife with security concerns, but there is an argument to be made that if one is committed to travel to Afghanistan, couchsurfing and ingratiating oneself with the locals and living as they do would probably be the safest and most authentic way to experience a country with a rich culture and fascinating history.
Though many countries advise against anything but essential travel to the turbulent country, there is much to see on an exploration of Afghanistan including Budda Niches in Bamiyan, the Kabul Museum in Kabul and the Minaret of Jam in central Afghanistan.
