The century's longest lunar eclipse, delighted many, if not all, skygazers. This rare astronomical sighting took place on Friday, 27 July and was pegged as the longest total lunar eclipse of our century.
The total lunar eclipse lasted 6 hours and 14 minutes. In SA the moon took on the 'blood moon' reddish glow from 19:14, reaching its peak at 22:21 and then ended at 01:28 on the Saturday morning, 28 July.
