Cape Town - South African Weather Service (SAWS) alerts that heavy rain and flooding is expected in parts of Eastern Cape on Thursday, 15 March, while widespread showers have been forecast across most of SA.
For Thursday, SAWS issued a watch for heavy rain leading to localised flooding is expected along the north-east coast and adjacent interior of the Eastern Cape.
Urban localised flooding is also expected in low-lying areas along the south coast and adjacent interior of Eastern Cape.
On Thursday, SAWS predicts 80% chance of rain along the Eastern Cape's coast and adjacent interior.
A 60% chance of rain is forecast over central Eastern Cape, southern KZN including Durban, southern part of Lesotho, and south-eastern part of Western Cape including the Garden Route.
A further 30% chance of showers is expected over the rest of Eastern Cape, KZN and Lesotho, across all of Free State, southern parts of Gauteng and Mpumalanga, south-western part of North West, eastern part of Northern Cape, and central and eastern parts of Western Cape.
Limpopo and western parts of Northern and Western Capes, including drought-stricken Cape Town, will remain dry on Thursday.

Minimum temperatures on Thursday will be cold in western and south-western parts of SA and cool throughout the rest of the country.
Sutherland in Northern Cape will once again be the coldest place in SA, dropping to 11°C.
Maximum temperatures will be cool in south-western parts, warm in the southern and eastern interior, hot in KZN and the central and northern interior, and very hot in northern parts of Mpumalanga and Limpopo.
The hottest place in SA will be Skukuza in Mpumalanga, reaching a high of 38°C.

Pretoria in Gauteng is set to reach a high of 33°C, while Johannesburg will reach 30°C. Bloemfontein in the Free State will be 31°C.
Along the coastal regions, Cape Town in the Western Cape will reach a cool 20°C, Port Elizabeth in Eastern Cape will see a high of 24°C, while Durban in KZN will be 30°C.
