Cape Town – The Cape Canopy Tour just outside Elgin in the Western Cape has been named one of Lonely Planet’s top new tourist experiences for 2015.

The local zip line tour took the second spot on the prestigious New in Travel list, which contains ’26 of the world’s hottest new experiences for 2015.’

The Cape Canopy Tour opened in 2014 and features 13 platforms, 11 slides (of which the longest is 320m long) and one suspension, all bridge tucked away in a picturesque corner of the Hottentots Holland Nature Reserve. The entire course takes about 4 hours to complete and ends off with a light lunch at the Sunbird café on site.

According to Lonely Planet, the “tour enables you to fly like a fish eagle, one of the many bird species found among the reserve’s rocky mountains, through bright wildflowers and serene pools.”

Sounds magical, doesn’t it?

The rather diverse list is topped by One World Observatory in New York City and also features the Caminito Del Rey footpath in Spain, as well as The Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Orlando, USA.

You can download the mini guide containing the full list from the Lonely Planet website.
