Cape Town - China is on course to building one of the biggest airports in the world in Beijing.
The Beijing Daxing Airport is set to open in 2019 and will start off with a capacity for 45 million passengers, though with plans to increase its capacity to 100 million eventually, according to Reuters.

The skeleton of the airport was showed off to journalists on Monday and is made up of 1,6 million cubic metres of concrete, 52 000 tonnes of steel and spans 47 square kilometres.
The whole project costs $12,14 billion, and is a shining example of China’s national production capacity,” according to project spokesman Zhu Wenxin.
China's major three airlines will use the new airport as their main base, and will be connected to the city with a high-speed train.
It will hopefully ease the congestion at the Beijing International, which is currently host to the second-largest population of passengers in the world.
