In July 2019, Mango Airlines added a new route between Port Elizabeth International Airport and Lanseria, Johannesburg, much to the delight of many travellers keen on visiting the Friendly City for either business or leisure.
The local budget airline added two flights a day to start with.

But unfortunately the airline has taken the decision to scrap this route only 6 months after its launch, with immediate effect. The route cut is said to be due to low demand and is not connected to business rescue.
"Mango can confirm that on 15 January 2020, we removed the Lanseria – PE route for the foreseeable future.
"A substantial investment was made in trying to stimulate the market with various sales campaigns and marketing drives, but unfortunately the predicted demand did not materialise. Guests who have been booked to travel on this route will either be accommodated on our OR Tambo - PE flights or provided refunds.
"We apologise for any inconvenience this decision may have caused," says Sergio Santos-Van Vuuren, Director of Strategy and Business Development at Mango.
