Cape Town - It is obvious that travellers and holidaymakers are wasting no time planning for their festive season, as FlySafair has recently announced an increase of flight frequencies on some of its routes, due to higher demand over this period.

The low-cost South African carrier announced that its Lanseria - George and Johannesburg - East London routes, which normally do not operate every day, will operate daily over the festive season.

"Due to the higher demand for travel over the festive season, we are adding capacity to our flight schedule over that period," says the airline.

“On an increased schedule, we did 1 404 flights last December. This will increase to 1 600 flights this December,” says Natasha Kotze, marketing specialist of FlySafair.

Added to this, there will also be additional flights on the OR Tambo - George, OR Tambo-Cape Town, OR Tambo -Port Elizabeth, Cape Town- East London, Cape Town - PE, and Cape Town - Durban routes.

"What’s more, we are starting operations on the new routes from Durban to East London and Durban to PE as of 27 November," says Kotze.

In addition to increasing frequencies, FlySafair will also be adding aircraft to its fleet.

The carrier recently acquired two additional Boeing 737-000s and will take delivery of a third Boeing 737-400 before the end of the year. This will bring FlySafair’s fleet to 11 aircraft, making it the second largest low-cost carrier in SA in terms of aircraft.
