As families become more dispersed across the globe, giving rise to multi-generational holidays, Emirates' loyalty programme has come up with a new way to give families more bang for their buck.
The new 'My Family' programme gives family members a chance to now pool up to 100% of their Skywards Miles earned from Emirates Flights. What this means is that you'll be able to get points faster for specific rewards. This can also take the hassle out of making sure you specify who gets your points when you pass away, and siblings can collectively save up to get free flights for a visit from their parents or even grandparents.

According to a few surveys, the future travel trends are seeing more adults going on holidays with their parents and grandparents thanks to a shift in lifestyle habits and extended life longevity. An industry expert told Travel Pulse that over the last few years multi-generational travel has doubled from one out of six trips to one out of every three, and has become one of the fastest growing travel categories.
You also don't have to pool all your points - each member can adjust the percentage of their miles that go towards the family miles account, which can have up to eight members. One member also has to be designated as the Family Head. Membership for the programme is free, and you can find out more here.

“We’re always working to enhance our offerings to ensure our members are given greater value, choice and flexibility at every touch-point across the Emirates Skywards programme. The new enriched ‘My Family’ programme will provide our members with a better, more intuitive customer experience, allowing them to consolidate up to 100% of Skywards Miles earned on Emirates to reap faster rewards as well as tailor the proposition to meet their travel needs,” said Dr Nejib Ben Khedher, senior vice president of Emirates Skywards.
The kids are also not left out of the equation, where special toys, activity packs, child-friendly meals and dedicated children's content in their in-flight entertainment system await them on all Emirates flights. On the ground, Emirates provides a dedicated family check-in area, complimentary strollers in Dubai and priority boarding for families across all airports.
Other benefits of being a Skywards member include access to money-can't-buy-experiences at global events, 41 Emirates lounges in major cities, priority check-in and advanced seat selection onboard. The programme has also recently introduced reduced rates for buying, gifting and transferring Skywards Miles.
Now all that's left is to fight for who gets to use those points.
