If you find yourself in Jozi this festive season, we have the ideal list too get your mouth watering - from local goods markets where you can sample craft beers to gorging on traditional African foods. You won't be able to get through this list. And why not because December isn't just a month, it is a lifestyle. 

Prawn and Beer Festival

The prawn and beer festival is an event for the whole family - besides the delicious array of pairings of a cold one and prawns there is live entertainment and fun for the kids. There will be a motorcar and bike show and helicopter rides available.

Venue: Nasrec Expo centre

Bryanston Organic and Natural market

A market that has existed for over 40 years is home to the finest crafts and arts in Jozi. The market sells organic goods at a steal as well as Panama hats to shade you from the hot summer days. Enjoy home baked goods and colorant free tasty treats. 

Venue: 40 Culross road, Bryanston 

Date: Every Thursday and Saturday

Time: TBC

Cost: Entrance is free. 

Fourways Farmers Market

Grab a relaxed Sunday lunch at the Fourways market that provides a feel of the countryside while being near Montecasio. Arrive hungry as there is a wide range of delicacies to choose from. On 9 December there will be a roasting marshmallow section for the kids and those with a sweet tooth.

Venue: Earth Outdoor Living Nursery 

Date: Every Sunday

Time: 09:00 - 14:00

Cost: Entrance is free.

Market at the Tennis Club 

Bask in the sun at Jozi's newest social club which offers a picnic style family day to celebrate the festive season. The kids can enjoy face-painting, water balloon shoot-out and proudly South African games such as diketo. The fun extends to the grown ups as well with an 'adult' jumping castle.

Jozi Real Food Market 

Venue: Pirates Sports Club, Greenside

Date: Every Saturday and first Sunday of the month

Time: 08:30 - 13:00 

Cost: Entrance is free.

Makhelwane Festival 

The houses of Omakhelwane will transform into eateries for food traders to whip up the most delicious in local foods within a designated section of the house. It is a transformation of the community to get invovled within the world of arts, crafts and food. It will be a unique experience of Soweto.
