Uncover PE's little-known love story on the Donkin Heritage Trail. The Donkin Heritage Trail is free, but we suggest going with a guide to help you make the most of the day.
Put on your tekkies and walk parts of the renowned Route 67. This art route, which forms part of the Donkin Heritage Trail, can be explored on its own and showcases 67 public art works that symbolises the 67 years Madiba has dedicated to South Africa’s Freedom.
Enjoy a freshly brewed beer at Bridge Street Brewery... their artisan weekly brews are remarkable and range between R20 and R50. You can also opt for the 'Tastewheel' with 5 samples for R42.
If you have more in the tank, hop on the Hop on Beer Route. This tour will take you to three microbreweries – Dockside Brewery, Beer Yard and Bridge Street Brewery – where you can enjoy 11 uniquely different crafted beers.
Go to Arts in the Park for free. This open-air market takes place at St George’s Park in Park Drive every last Sunday of the month.
SUP the Indian Ocean. You can also opt to sea kayak with Pro Dive if standing up sounds like too much work... This costs R295.

Take a day trip to Addo Elephant National Park. Entrance to the park is R77 per adult, per day for South African citizens (with IDs).

Canoe on the Sunday's River. You can take your own canoe and only pay the Addo Elephant National Park entrance fee, or go on a half-day, all-inclusive adventure with Crisscross Adventures.
Visit the Lady Slipper Farmers Market for free. This market takes place every Saturday from 08:00 to 12:00 in St Albans at the Van Stadens River grounds at the Dutch Reformed Church (NG Kerk) in Old Cape Road.
Learn to surf in PE's world-renowned waters. If you don't have a surfboard, you can rent one for R150 for the entire day from Surf Centre.
Zipline on the highest, longest and fastest double zip line in South Africa for R300.

Do a Giant Swing with Adrenaline Addo - R200 will get you towed into the air and dropped to just above the ground!
Head to the Valley Market on the first Saturday of every month in the old tramways building. They have artisanal chocolate, bread, exotic paella and more. Entry is R20 (which goes to soup kitchens, and making grocery parcels and meals for needy families).
Visit the Friendly Stranger. This coffee shop in Baakens Valley is in an old cobblestone building (believed to be the oldest in PE) with a small basement-type-of-lounge that is a popular get-together spot for creatives. Their chicken salad with honey, mustard and dukkah is a winner, PE locals say.

Snorkel Algoa Bay - The two-hour trip costs R295 per person and includes a mask, snorkel, fins and wetsuits.
Visit the iconic Kings Beach Flea Market for free. This market is open Sundays and operates from 08:00 until the late afternoon. It’s also open every day during the December holiday season.
Cool off in the McArthurs Pools - Entrance to the pools is R60 for adults and R30 for children.
