The mayor of Venice has declared a state of emergency after the city was flooded during the highest tide in over half a century. 

The UNESCO World Heritage property comprises the city of Venice and its lagoon, and dotted around this centre you'll find a magnitude of heritage and historic sights. Many of these have been damaged due to harsh flooding.
