When you walk through my house there are shelves and shelves of trinkets, statues and weirdly wonderful objects that I love collecting while travelling - a wooden dodo from Mauritius, a shadow puppet from Indonesia, a Harry Potter wand from England.

When I go travelling, I always make sure to leave a lot of extra space in my bag for all the souvenirs I will undoubtedly return with - but there are a lot of 'souvenirs' that's not necessarily as tangible. The deep tan from Greece, my diving skills from KwaZulu-Natal and a slight fear of hippos from Tanzania.
China Airlines decided to embrace all the 'souvenirs' - the good, the bad and the awkward - that travellers take back home in their new viral ad.

A regretted tattoo from Amsterdam, a husband from Rome, a new face from Seoul and even a haunted knight statue from Edinburgh - the hilarious 'souvenirs' might seem a little negative, but the stories behind them is the real selling point in the video.
"You never know what travel will bring to your life. Let's go find out," says the video, and will make you want to pack your bags immediately.

But also the fact that this came from China Airlines is another big win for the ad - the country has been consistently portrayed as being extremely conservative and an insular society, but this video portrays a lot of taboo subjects that are probably more representative of China's younger, more modern citizens.
When travelling you have to take the bad with the good, but you never know when that delayed flight turns into a chance encounter with your soulmate.
