Among the many awards that the Mother City holds including the most beautiful city in the world, they also have the best food spots.

The American Express Dining Awards have showcased premier South African restaurants for the past 21 years - aiming to separate the great from the okay when it comes to the culinary scene.

The programme now features an extended range of categories, which cater for the wide variety of cuisine found across the country and feeding into the wide variety of tastes for travellers who love to visit destinations for a specific foodie experience.

This year's ceremony took place in Cape Town, with the highly anticipated Restaurant of the Year award going to the Test Kitchen. Set in Old Biscuit Mill in the trendy Woodstock, you'll be enjoying contemporary fine dining. Booking is essential for this intimate experience as the restaurant only accommodates 40 people per seating.

Earlier this year, Test Kitchen was also ranked number 44 in the World’s 50 Best Restaurants Awards and was recognised as the top restaurant in Africa, since its inception in 2010 the Test Kitchen has scored several awards, after eating from the 21-course menu you will understand why.
