One of Cape Town's most chilled-out neighbourhoods, Tamboerskloof is home to sidewalk cafés, bars dripping with cool, quiet views and boutique shopping.

Stay here if you desire a city escape that also reminds you of being at home. It's just THAT comfortable a place.

Here your quintessential must-hit-this-spot list:

1. Food

Breakfast is best served at the Blue Café. A proper neighbourhood, sidewalk eatery, this is where Capetonians hang out on Saturday mornings (Well, either here or at Jason's Bakery on Bree).

Chow down at EL Burro Taqueria on Kloof Nek. This colourful spot has vibrant Mexican food, and makes a killa Margarita. Set on Tamboerskloof's coolest corner, it's ideal for summer evenings spent watching the world pass by.

2. Drinks

PUBLIK wine bar on Kloof Nek Road is one of those bars where the wine just tastes better. Mainly because, here, the wine is really, ridiculously good-tasting.

Also head to the Gardens Collectors Club on Kloof Street for happy hour! Have your pick and indulge in everything from beers on tap to some beautifully-presented and delicious cocktails.

3. Stay

Stay at one of Cape Town's classics, The Cape Milner. From luxe rooms to poolside views, it doesn't get much better than this. Sitting right in the heart of Tamboerskloof, this is where it's at.

4. Do

The gateway to Table Mountain, Tamboerskloof offers incredible views of both Lion's Head, Signal Hill and Table Mountain. Start your hike from this mountain-side neighbourhood, or take a drive up and start your early morning or late afternoon hike up one of these peaks.

For something quirky head to the ERF 81 Tamboerskloof Farm. These grounds are home to geese, chickens, owls, mongooses and more farm animals. You can visit the farm or attend it's farmer's market, held every Sunday from 10am to 3pm.

5. Shop

Poke your head in at the Wellness Warehouse at the Lifestyle Centre on Kloof for one of a kind health goodies, or spend a while browsing at AKJP on Kloof for some fashion staples, statement pieces and hand-crafted accessories produced by local designers.
