Glamping is defined by the Urban Dictionary as 'luxury camping', particularly for those who relate to something like the following: "I ain't sleepin' in no tent! For real, I'm goin' glamping!"

Lets face it, roughing it by camping in the outdoors is not for everyone. I like camping every so often, however, I recently discovered that I might prefer glamping...

I was convinced of this after a single night stay at AfriCamps on the Pat Busch Mountain Reserve in Robertson. This is boutique camping at its best.

"Our glamping tents are tucked away in the Cape fynbos and look out over a folded green valley with the Langeberg as a gorgeous backdrop.  We invite you to escape the hustle and bustle and come and explore this hidden valley together with your dearest friends and family. The possibilities on the property are endless and include several walking trails, good bird watching, fishing for bass and swimming and paddling in the farm dam.  The sparkling nine-meter swimming pool, fringed by a rolling green lawn is also a welcomed addition at which to chill in the summer blaze," says AfriCamps

Now, don't think of glamping as a tent with all the bells and whistles ie, don't expect 1000 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and a butler pouring you real French Champagne.

It is an already-constructed tent/wooden cottage structure with all the facilities you'll need like a kitchen, bathroom, deck, braai area and an indoor fireplace. Perfect for winter breaks!

So basically, fancy camping, but plebs are welcome.

The tented accommodation gives you that outdoor, adventure vibe without all the dirt and effort. And the price is really not bad. Less than R1 200 per night for 5 people.

And who can say 'no' to views like this?

The Langeberg Mountains are worth escaping to for a weekend. And you can hike them, of course, but if that's not your thing, you can also opt to sit in awe of them, whether you do so over brekkie or while braaing at your tent.
