South America's Bolivia is considered a less-crowded, cheaper alternative to Peru, but the rest of the world might soon catch on.

How to get to La Paz

Beside having the highest seat of government, La Paz also has the world's highest international airport - El Alto. You can catch a flight from South Africa to Sao Paulo with SAA, then catch a flight to Lima in Peru and then another flight to La Paz.
