Every year, the Ausseerland Region in Austria hosts a spring time festival devoted to the poet's narcissus, an especially fragrant daffodil.
Springtime heralds the appearance of the wild narcissi flower which transforms this alpine region into a yellow, white and green fragrant sea of flowers.
The white star-shaped narcissi are in bloom between the middle of May and the middle of June and this is when Narzissenfest takes place.
As Austria's largest flower festival, local tradition are linked with the surrounding environment to create a colourful, imaginative and fun event for visitors and the local community to enjoy and admire the narcissi. Visitors are able to enjoy seeing processions of figures adorned in these daffodils glide through Bad Aussee and gently float across the lake.
