Many in the United Kingdom feel Cape Town is one of the best holiday destinations in the world.

Of the estimated 4.5 million Britons living abroad, there are about 319 000 of them have chosen to settle in South Africa, while some 246 000 Saffas are currently living in the UK, according to its Office for National Statistics

The coveted title of Best City in the World was also recently given to the Mother City, thanks to some 39 000 Telegraph voters - and for a record 7th year in a row. The Brits have even admitted to being prepared to put up with the "occasional discomfort for the sheer joy of waking up with a real, natural beauty".

On the flip side, many South Africans down here in the Southern Hemisphere - while embracing the festive season in an SA way - have always wanted to experience a snowy, white Christmas.

But seriously, do you prefer a sunny day at the beach eating all the braaied boerewors and ice-cream you can handle, or would you rather be eating beef wellington, brandied Christmas pudding and building snowmen?

This TravelStart video features the Christmas experiences of a South African local who spent some time the UK, Jesse Scott Brown as well UK born blogger now living in SA, Shante Hutton - take a look and decide for yourself.

Wherever you are in the world, Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas and enjoy the time you get to spend with your loved ones.
