Cape Town - The cost of living is going up all over the globe, but in these 20 cities it is downright hard to get by if you aren’t a millionaire.

Using data curated from Numbeo, Travel agent The Crazy Tourist has rounded up 20 of the most expensive tourist destinations, exploring how locals spend their hard-earned money in these iconic destination.

The fascinating infographic has also lifted the lid on what locals spend their money on including rent and restaurants, as well as the staggering difference in the cost of everyday items in these pricey locations. 

Despite the extravagant lifestyles of urbanites in Asia and the Middle East, Bermuda’s capital, Hamilton, is the costliest city on Earth, followed by San Francisco and New York in the US.

While it may be a universal #TravelGoal to afford the high lifestyle in these iconic global cities one day, SA's City of Gold, Durban and the Mother City are #blessed with some of the highest quality of living. 

According to the 2016 Mercer report ranking cities around the world according to their quality of living, Durban, Cape Town and Johannesburg was mentioned in the Top 100 place that offer of the highest quality of living across Africa and the Middle East.
