Between 8 December 2017 and 14 January 2018, 2 children per family - aged 12 years or under – will get to ride free on the Gautrain’s airport route.

How to get free rides for kids

To make the most of this offer and avoid delays at Gautrain stations, parents and guardians must pre-register their planned trip to OR Tambo International Airport online at or click here for the pre-registration form.

At the Gautrain station, parents or guardians must visit the promotion desk and present documents to verify the children’s date of birth. After travel validation, the promoter will then issue the children with a wristband, which will be removed by a promoter upon exit at the destination station.

Accompanying parents and guardians will pay fares as per normal and must tag in with a valid Gautrain card. See the full terms and conditions here to ensure all requirements are met ahead of your journey.
