Perk up 'miserable season' weather with a good glass of wine, hot chocolate or whiskey, delicious, hearty dishes and a winter warming fireplace.

Here are a few of our favourite eateries with fireplaces:

Tuck into some yummy Italian at Remo’s Maximilliano, hidden away at Waterfall Corner Mall, while you warm up indoors by the massive fireplace.

Paputzis (Randburg) is made for winter. Lounge around as you indulge in hearty oxtail and wine by the fireplace.

Grab a drink at the lovely upmarket bar, Churchills (Melrose Arch), which is luxuriously decorated in a British-inspired style. Adding to the comfort is the toasty fireplace.

Situated in one of the coolest places in Jozi that is 44 Stanley is the nautical-themed, Salvation Cafe (Milpark). Chow down on some brunch or warm your hands by the cosy fireplace with a hot chocolate and homemade brownie.

Indulge in a delectable, juicy steak at Wombles (Bryanston). Sit outside even during winter as they have an exterior fireplace.

This place is proper fancy. Prosopa Restaurant serves up delicious Mediterranean food with a lot of glam. Enjoy dining next to the fireplace situated in the centre of the dining area.

Dining at The Black Bamboo celebrates the synergy between food, wine and art. Enjoy the fire at the boma after dinner!
