Roses are red, violets are blue, the weekend is back and Jozi's got you! See what the buzzing city hub has in store for you to explore this weekend.

Kick back at one of these nifty events and activities happening in Joburg:

Friday, 4 May

SEE: Stormtroop on over and get your Jedi on at the May the Fourth be With You party event taking place at Rumours Rock City on the corner of Weltevreden Road and Valley Avenue in Randburg. The event launches off at 20h00 and strikes down at 23h30. R100 gets you in to this event that's out of this world and can be purchased here.

DO: Do sundowners at the God Mother SA Tour going down at Sundowners Corner Kliprivier Drive and Kromvlei Road in Alberton, Gauteng. The event rocks off at 19h00 on Friday, 4 May and unplugs at 00h00 on Saturday, 5 May. If you're dressed to impress in honour of Star Wars you get in for R50, if not you get in for R70 at the door. 

TASTE: Treat your tastebuds to some fine dining at Ristorante La Trinata located in the Kyalami Downs Shopping Centre on the corner of Kyalami Boulevard and Main Road in Kyalami Park, Midrand. The average price for a meal site between R80 and R100.

Saturday, 5 May

SEE: Check out this cool party in the park courtesy of the Huawei Joburg Day in The Park rocking into motion at the Johannesburg Botanical Garden, Emmarentia at 10h00. Gates open at 09h00 and close at 18h00. Tickets cost R350 apiece for general admission and R150 apiece for kids aged between 3 - 12 yrs old, attendees can also buy a package for four at R1200 and can be bought here.  

DO: Why not get your party on a bus with the Soweto Party Bus Tour taking place from Vilakazi Street in Soweto and the party rolls from Pretoria CBD to Soweto between 10h00 until 18h00. TASTE: Why roast Trump when you can grill him over at Trumps Grillhouse & Butchery located in Nelson Mandela Square, Sandton. The restaurant is open daily from 11h30 until 22h30 and meals average at about R130.

EXPLORE: Cruise around Jozi in Tuk Tuk style. With rides costing a flat rate of R50 this is both a fun and cost efficient way to weave through the urban jungle. The services run weekdays between 06h00 and 17h00 and weekends and public holidays between 07h00 and 09h00. Contact a driver here.

Sunday, 6 May

SEE: See through the eyes and lens of kids at the Kiddies Photo Walk at Joburg Zoo in Jan Smuts Avenue and Upper Park Drive, Parkview between 08h30 and 11h30. Entry charges are R250 per child and R200 per parent and includes the entrance fee and refreshments - attendees are expected to bring their own camera gear. You can buy tickets here.

DO: Take a hike this Sunday with the Beginners Hike event hosted by ActVyt Lifestyle. The 6km trail will take place in Roodepoort, Gauteng from 06h00 until 10h00. Entries cost R180 per person and can be done here - entries close on Wednesday, 2 May at 18h00 and are limited to 100 entries. Once payment and registration have been received, attendees will get the location of the starting point. 

TASTE: Take a trip to Turkey at Galata Bakery situated at 87 Juta Street in Braamfontein, Gauteng. This slice of baking heaven operates between 07h00 and 20h00 daily and average at about R60 a meal. 

EXPLORE: Explore The Locrate Market in Soweto that goes down the first Sunday of every month at Lebo's Soweto Backpackers in Pooe Street on the corner of Ramushu Street in Orlando West, Soweto. The market operates between 11h00 and 18h00.
