WATCH: Huge whale shark spotted in Dubai Marina

Cape Town - Onlookers got quite a surprise when a massive whale shark was spotted swimming in the Dubai Marina on Thursday afternoon, 27 August.

In this video posted on Twitter you can see the non-threatening shark swimming beneath a walkway opposite the 73-story Cayan Tower in Dubai.

Emirates Diving UAE posted a tweet saying it is not the first time a whale shark has been spotted in the Marina, with at least three sightings recorded since 2006.

The whale shark is a slow-moving filter feeding shark and the largest known extant fish species, with an average length of 12m, weighing approximately 21.5 metric tons.
