Cape Town - Good braai spots bless South Africa, making it a sort of holy land for delicious, flame-grilled meat – this is a fact. As South Africans head into holiday mode, it also means full-throttle braai mode. 

No one has time to stand in front of the stove this time of year - there are too many amazing places to explore and any holidays plans that do not involve road tripping, hot fires and some boerewors are criminal.

From December to March, expect inboxes to fill up with invitations to rooftop braais, beach braais, birthday braais and festive potjies. Trust us – this season will challenge your braai etiquette, skills and taste in venues.

Oudekraal

In between Camps Bay and Llandudno, this spot lets you braai right by the beach, cool off in the Atlantic, snorkel around the cove and an opportunity to spot the oldest wreck in the country -  Het Huis te Kraaiensteing, which sunk in 1670.

Schusters Kraal

Near Cape Point Nature Reserve - this peaceful reserve offers great views of the ocean and the scenic family walks are easy for the whole family - your dog too.
