Summer in the pool with a view of the city, what could be better? Doing it while sipping a glass of the finest South African-made Methode Cap Classique (MCC).

Because bubbly can only be referred to as 'champagne' if, in fact, it was produced in Champagne, France, we refer to this delightful drink as MCC, even though it is made in the same style as champagne.

South Africa produces sublime MCC. And celebrate it as often as we can. Whether it's at a bubbly festival or just an average balmy evening at home, this fizzy wonder is the alcoholic Soda Stream of our adulthood.

Here are some great spots to sip locally-produced bubbly today in celebration of World Champagne Day:

At home

Buy one of these babies, the Colmant Brut Reserve NV. Hailing from Franschhoek, it is always a winner.  Enjoy it in the garden, on your balcony, or on the couch. It'll perk up your Saturday no matter where you have it.

On Signal Hill

Go to this famous viewpoint to see the Mother City's pink sunsets up-close and personal. Do so while enjoying a bottle of Le Lude. Decadence in a bottle.

The Elgin Wine Valley

The cool-climate of the valley makes it ideal for making MCC. Take a scenic drive to Charles Fox farm for a tasting and stock up on a few bottles for future celebrations.

Roof-top pool in Jozi

Seeking sundowners with a view of the city? Look no further than the San Deck Bar and Restaurant with a pool for a glass of bubbly. Go for the Krone Night Nectar MCC if you like your sparking wine a bit sweeter.

Anywhere with a sea view

The Lighthouse Bar in Umhlanga Rocks is a super fancy sea view spot for late afternoon drinks. Part of the iconic Oyster Box Hotel, grab yourself a date and head here for sips of Graham Beck Brut.
