Cape Town - The Mother City has been unveiled as one of the Top Five destinations for young British expats according to a recent survey conducted by one of the world’s largest independent financial advisory organisations.
Greg Stockton, divisional manager for Africa for the DeVere Group
, joined News24 LIVE in studio
to shed light on how the survey was conducted and what it is about Cape Town that makes it such a popular destination for young Brits.
Historically, Stockton says, it was pensioners and older people moving to Cape Town to retire, "whereas now there are ambitious 30- and 40-year-olds seeking new opportunities, a better career path, better salaries and also a better lifestyle".

Stockton says the crime stats in South Africa and Cape Town particularly, are not as bad as we would imagine it. He says in Cape Town crime is very much confined to particular areas which are avoidable, whereas in the UK "there is no getting away from crime" as it is dispersed throughout the country.
"I've lived here [in Cape Town] for 12 months and I've seen zero crime," he says. Take a look: Do you agree with Greg Stockton? Please post a comment below or email firstname.lastname@example.org. You can also join us on our Facebook, Twitter or Instagram accounts.
