Imagine exploring the Cuban capital in an old vintage car, salsa music flowing out of the bars and cigar-filled air hovering in the heat of the day.

Globetrotter Steve Hanisch did just that, and with the recent ban on US travellers to Cuba, now's the time for South Africans to take advantage of the cheaper tourism.

How do you get there? The cheapest flights are in November, flying with SAA to either JFK in the US or Sao Paulo in Brazil, and grab connecting flights through Panama, Colombia or Peru.
