The Rencontres Internationales de Cerfs-volants Kite Festival in France's Berck-Sur-Mer has existed for more than 25 years and features all kinds of kites - from conventional ones to huge inflatable objects.

Kite flyers from all over the world come to compete for the fastest, longest and most stunning kite formations. It takes place around April every year.

How to get to Berck-Sur-Mer

From South Africa, you'll have to fly to Paris and from there you can take either a two-and-a-half hour train or three-hour bus ride - or you can even opt to drive up to Berck in a rental car and enjoy the scenery.
