Ethiopia is serious about travel and tourism. The horn of Africa destination has cemented its appeal - with much success due to the development of Addis Ababa as a dynamic and growing regional hub.
In 2018, its tourism economic sector grew by 48.6%, the largest of any country in the world, according to the World Travel & Tourism Council’s (WTTC). This has significantly outpaced the global growth rate of 3.9%, the African growth rate of 5.6% - with South Africa's tourism sector sitting at 4.5% contribution to the GDP.
With a US$7.4 billion addition to the country’s economy, the sector now represents 9.4% of Ethiopia’s total economy.
In light of this rapid growth, Ethiopian Airlines Group, the news spirit of Africa, has opened a prestigious five-star Ethiopian Skylight Hotel in Addis Ababa.

Located five minutes away from Addis Ababa’s Bole International Airport, it is geared towards increasing the number of tourists entering the country - by "providing seamless hospitality services to the Ethiopian Airline partners and transit passengers".
It it is made up of 373 finely designed rooms, including three luxurious restaurants, the hotel offers all day dining (including Chinese restaurants), a lobby and an executive lounge which includes a traditional Ethiopian restaurant.

The Grand Ballroom accommodates 2 000 seated guests and 4 000 guests at a time in a standing cocktail setting.
The Ballroom can also be divided into five separate halls along with spacious foyer area, accommodating 500 to 800 guests in each compartment - ideal for business conferences, corporate and other social events.
The hotel has offers three separate day-light and two VIP private meeting rooms for corporate meetings. The Health Club facilities in the hotel include an outdoor swimming pool, mini-golf courses, a spa and massage room and an outstanding gymnasium.
