At the inaugural STIHL iMfolozi Outrun in KwaZulu-Natal, runners on the two-day run got a little surprise waiting for them in the bushes - a stuffed lion that looks all too alive.
Luckily for those not at the event, the organisers had a camera set up right by the lion to catch everyone's reactions - some laughed, some got a fright and some channelled their inner springbok with a little jump.

The sold-out run took place from 31 August to 1 September, attracting 300 runners to South Africa's oldest game reserve. The trail run takes place over two days with a total of 32.5kms through the reserve, protected by a team of field and honorary rangers to ensure the runners' safety.
Runners are also kindly requested to raise money for the reserve through pledges, with prizes for those who raise the most money.
This year they raised R320 000 towards ranger and community projects inside iMfolozi, and the event will return next year around the same time, although dates are still to be confirmed. Who knows what surprise they will have for runners in store then!
