Cape Town - Kruger National Park bush lovers have taken to social media to express their anger over a delivery truck driver who has spooked two playful elephant calves by hooting and swerving past parked cars in the road.

Brenda Pratt, a member of the SANParks - Kruger National Park official Facebook group believes the truck driver's misconduct is so severe that he needs to be lawfully prosecuted.

"This is shocking," Pratt said, "These guys should go to jail."

Another member, Mike Goss also believes that since the driver's registration number is clearly visible on the footage, SANParks should take action.  "There really is no room at all for this type of aggressive behaviour," Goss said.

This is the perfect example on how NOT to behave when driving in the Kruger National Park:

The footage was posted to the Kruger National Park videos profile. The caption of the video urged park visitors to adhere to the rules of the park.

The Kruger clearly states in their Rules and Park Regulations that "Driving or operating any vehicle in a reckless or negligent manner or in a deliberate disregard for the safety of a person, animal or property is a serious offence and can result in a summons being issued.

"Driving a vehicle in a manner that constitutes a nuisance, disturbance, inconvenience or danger to any other person may also be subject to a summons being issued," SANParks said.

Kruger's rules are "enforced under the National Environmental Management: Protected Areas Act, 2003 (Act no. 57 of 2003) and transgression can result in a fine".

Traveller24 has requested whether actions would be taken against the reckless driver, but SANParks has yet to respond to the request for comment.
