Cape Town - While it maybe under questioning for its latest new system regarding payment options that gives drivers the option to refuse cash payments, UberASSIST has finally arrived in Johannesburg.

The initiative which was first launched in Cape Town earlier this year, has been designed to provide additional assistance for senior riders and riders with access needs.
"Moving around your city should be quick and convenient for all," says Uber as it "strives to create transportation options that give equal opportunities and access to everyone."

UberAsssit is specifically aimed at those with access needs when travelling, offering a safe and reliable option for these "under-served riders that are not as mobile and able to move around their city as others".
Driver-partners are specifically trained to assist riders when getting in and out of vehicles and can accommodate folding wheelchairs, walkers and service animals.
"We urge you to respect others by only using uberASSIST if applicable to you. We’d like to ensure those who need to get an uberASSIST ride can always do so," says Uber.

How does it work?
When requesting a ride, special needs riders can contact the uberASSIST driver-partner ahead of time to inform them of any unique requirements.
Like all ride options Uber offers, UberASSIST riders will also be asked to rate every trip, this is an important tool to ensure drivers receive valuable feedback about their involvement in the uberASSIST programme to better their business offering.
uberASSIST riders will need to be able to navigate a smartphone in order to request a vehicle or have someone close by to help.
