Cape Town - There's a new travel concept coming that's sure to tempt all luxury-loving travellers.
Introducing AirCruising - the latest addition to Cruises International’s luxury cruise offerings, which promotes the concept of cruising but on a different medium.
Confusing? Let us explain. Come August 2017, travellers will be able to embark on the first-ever Crystal AirCruise flight from New York to Paris, stopping in ten top cities around the globe.
The idea works exactly the same as with a normal luxury cruise, where guests are transported from city to city, disembarking at each destination to explore. But instead of going on a lengthy cruise on the ocean, the transport medium will be a luxury private jet hopping across continents to offload passengers at their next destinations.
Crystal Cruises has dramatically redesigned the aircraft assigned to this task to offer a luxury and spacious journey for 48 guests, with features rarely found in even the most luxurious private jets.
The Crystal Exclusive Class seats are designed for maximum personal space and comfort and convert to 180-degree, lie-flat beds.
There is also an expansive social lounge with stand-up bar and dedicated table seating. Cuisine will be prepared by a dedicated executive chef in two state-of-the-art galleys and paired with an elegant premium wine list.
For the inaugural AirCruise in August next year, special Peninsula amenities will also be present on-board, creating a seamless experience both on the ground and in the air.
On solid ground in each destination, The Peninsula Hotels will also be the hotel partner for the maiden journey.
Additionally, in each destination, guests will be treated to four unique and exclusive events aimed at showcasing the authentic spirit of each destination.
To start off, a rooftop cocktail reception with the New York skyline as the dazzling backdrop. Then, a private party and dinner on the Great Wall of China in Beijing, followed by an over-the-top dinner reminiscent of the glamour of “Old Shanghai” at The Peninsula Shanghai. Next will be special Loy Krathong “Festival of Lights” celebration at The Peninsula Bangkok.
In Tokyo, guests will enjoy a private performance of the ancient art of Kabuki, while the conclusion of the program in Paris will take guests on a journey to the Champagne region for an exclusive glimpse behind the scenes and private lunch at a famed Champagne house.
The Crystal AirCruises’ maiden journey is open for bookings online, for a hefty six-star price of $159 000, or just over R2.2 million ($1 at R14.09) per person, all inclusive. Book yours here.
