The Lodge has an impressive collection of Shona and Italian sculptures in the garden. You can also find original stone carvings from Japan in the Japanese garden. There is also an array of bronze statues including ones of Venus Rising and Pan. The Lodge has the most extensive collection of Zimbabwean stone art in Southern Africa, that is worth admiring. And if art is not your cup of tea – there is an excellent spa, natural rock swimming pool, a bowling green and putting greens (which also has full wheelchair access).

The interiors of the Makaranga Garden Lodge gives one the feeling of stepping inside the pages of your favourite décor magazine with the stunning hand-painted murals, the plush carpet and elegant architecture. It gives off an ambiance of intimacy but also of luxury, exactly what is needed for a holiday retreat.

When it comes to staying over, the Lodge houses ten individually designed and air-conditioned suites which immediately makes you feel as if you are in a much better designed home. The suites all open onto a private veranda so that you can enjoy your privacy while you indulge in your luxurious vacation.

Those that are staying in the suites – get to enjoy their three meals a day served in the Makaranga Garden Lodge’s sophisticated dining room or they can eat in the Tuscan Terrace. And if you get peckish they also provide morning and afternoon tea.

If you are visiting for relaxation purposes, you need to check out the Health & Beauty Spa which forms part of the garden estate. The spa has four treatment rooms and one wet room that is specifically for hydrotherapy treatments. Treatments that the spa offers are chocolate body wraps, spray tanning, hot stone massages and lots more. There is also a variety of packages that can be tailored to suit your needs.

The festive season is the perfect time to get away from it all, indulge in some opulence and experience the tranquility of nature at the beautiful Makaranga Garden Lodge.
